Juventus Academy Ghana goalkeeper Kelvin Quarshie has completed an inspiring rise from humble beginnings to international recognition after being named Best Goalkeeper at the prestigious Juventus Academy World Cup in Italy, held from 7th to 11th June 2026.
Kelvin’s achievement is the culmination of years of determination and sacrifice. Just two years ago, the talented shot-stopper walked nearly 24 kilometres every Tuesday and Thursday to attend training sessions with SMAC Africa, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his football dream.
His dedication did not go unnoticed. That remarkable effort caught the attention of Mr. Massimiliano Taricone and Mr. Kwadwo Asamoah, owners of Juventus Academy Ghana. Recognizing his COMMITMENT, they awarded Kelvin a full scholarship and relocated him closer to the academy’s training center. The move gave him better access to training and education, both vital for his growth as an athlete.
That investment of heart has now produced an outstanding reward. Competing against some of the brightest young talents in world football, Kelvin stood out among 83 teams from 25 countries to claim the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper Award. He featured in all 10 matches throughout the tournament, making spectacular saves that impressed the organizers and the fans. He even scored a stunning free-kick as a goalkeeper — a moment that made him a fan favorite.
His journey serves as a powerful reminder that talent, when combined with perseverance and the right support system, can overcome even the toughest obstacles. For Ghanaian football, Kelvin Quarshie’s success is not only a personal triumph but also a testament to the growing impact of youth development programs in nurturing the next generation of stars, just as Ghana produced exceptional goalkeepers like Richard “Olele” Kingston who was part of the team that made history at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
As his career continues to progress, this latest accolade may well be just the beginning of an exciting future for one of Ghana’s most promising young goalkeepers.
Juventus Academy Ghana wishes Kelvin huge congratulations and will continue to support his development for a successful career that will inspire both the global football fraternity and Ghana as a nation.
